Hola!  Estas expresiones se utilizan informalmente para saludar. También suelen utilizarse los saludos según el momento del día:

Good night Buenas noches (al irse a dormir)

Cómo estás? En ocasiones más formales se usa la variante How do you do? a lo que se responde de igual manera: How do you do?

A qué te dedicas? Se usa para preguntar acerca de la profesión u ocupación de la otra persona

I'm a student

Soy estudiante. Notar que en inglés, a diferencia del español, es necesario usar el artículo 'a'. No es posible decir I'm student.

What about you?

¿Y tú? Esta expresión se aplica cuando se desea preguntar lo mismo que nos han preguntado. Podría decirse And you?, pero es menos común

3.       Location – we are in room 405. – he is at home – she is in the hospital.

4.       Origin / nationality – this coffee is Colombian – she is from England. – the cat is Russian – the elephant is from India.

5.       Season / time / weather – Europe is finishing summer time. – it is ten forty-three a.m. – today is a cool afternoon.

6.       Profession / occupation – my dad is a doctor. – William is an English professor. – Martha is a taxi driver.

7.       Age – I am 25 years old – the wine is 45 years old. – the dog is  5 years old

8.       Number – there is one book on the table. –there are 20 students in the class.

ACTIVIDAD EVALUATIVA

 

1.- Utilizando el verbo To Be en tiempo presente complete los espacios, y luego traduce al español.

 

 My name (be) ___is_____(1) John. I (be) ________(2) fifteen years old. I live on a farm. It (be) ________(3) in the country. It is quiet in the country. It (be, not) ____ ____(4) loud in the country.

I wake up early. Sometimes, I wake up before the sun rises. Sometimes, it (be) ________(5) still dark when I wake up. But I don’t mind. I like waking up that early. I like the way the country looks in the morning.

The first thing I do after I wake up is milk the cow. After I (be) ________(6) finished milking the cow, I bring the milk to my mom. I think she uses it to make breakfast. She makes a delicious breakfast. My mom (be) ________(7) a really good cooker.
